Lesson 1 - Organic and Inorganic Matter

Earth has contained most of the matter that it will have since its formation. New matter can only be added from meteorites that strike the Earth. This means that matter on earth has to be cycled and recycled through abiotic and biotic matter. A molecule of carbon in your body could have been in the body of a dinosaur!
We discussed in class the difference between organic and inorganic compounds. The slide presentations are embedded at the end of this lesson if you need to review. We also talked about and watched a video on the importance of photosynthesis is to the cycling of matter. You will also find this information on pages 82 - 84 of your Science Probe textbook.

1. Create a poster using your glogster.edu account to describe the difference between organic and inorganic compounds. Embed your poster on your wiki space page. Take some time to view some of your classmate's posters.

2. Homework - Do questions 1-5, 10 on page 85 of your Science Probe 10 textbook. If you have internet access at home, you can write your answers on your wiki space page.
